Dungeon Level Design
A downloadable level for Windows
This is an interactive level environment created as my final project for IMGD 4700 (Advanced Storytelling: Quest Logic & Level Design) at WPI. I'm not calling it a game since there's no objectives and no real mechanics (other than interacting with objects), but it is mostly game-ready and could easily be a part of one.
Everything was constructed in Unreal Engine 5.5.4, with most assets being from Fab. I did additional work with Blueprints and Niagara particle systems, but nothing complex due to the relatively small scope of the assignment. The goal was to create an architectural design with environmental storytelling.
The space that I’ve designed is two parts of a large underground dungeon. The main section of the building is a large crypt and holding area that has been occupied by adventurers and transformed into a safe space. Those who dive into the dungeon’s depths can stay there to eat, sleep, purchase supplies, and more. Outside of that main chamber lies the rest of the dungeon, still dangerous and full of death. Not all of the larger dungeon has been built due to the scope of the project, but there are roadblocks that allude to other unmapped parts of the dungeon, decorated with black fog.
Controls:
- WASD to move
- LSHIFT to sprint
- SPACE to jump
- Move the mouse to move the camera
- E or RMB to interact with objects (doors, candelabras, firepits, braziers)
This wouldn't have been possible without the assets I used, which are listed below. All of them were free, which made them easily accessible for a class project.
Asset Packs Used:
- Medieval Dungeon by Infuse Studio
- Dungeon Environment by PackDev
- Bazaar by Quixel
- Medieval Banquet by Quixel
- Ancient Treasures by Dekogon Studios
- Street Lantern by Ivannia Saz
- Perfect Fire VFX by Vefects
- Kenney's Crosshair Pack
- Individual Quixel assets for:
- grunge, dirt, mud, blood, and other imperfections
- moss meshes and materials
